[PRESET] Patriano Crime Family
Fri Feb 03, 2023 9:33 pm
According the NHPD, the Patriano Crime Family is the most powerful criminal syndicate in all of the city. The family holds an estimated 25 initiated members as well as dozens of additional associates who carry out the family's orders.OriginsThe Patriano crime family's rich origins can be traced back all the way to New Hartford's famous "DiMessina Group", a notorious criminal network active in the city's underworld during the early 20th century. Led by Salvatore DiMessina, the group was a Black Hand extortion gang and is believed to be one of New Hartford's first Italian crime organizations. At the start of the 1920s, many members were unsatisfied with how DiMessina led the gang, and a hit was eventually organized on the dangerous leader. The hit was executed by DiMessina's own right-hand man, Carmine Patriano, who eventually took control of the gang and rebranded it into the Patriano Crime Family.Patriano's new regime continued their extortion rackets in New Hartford but also started focusing on the practice of bootlegging alcohol. As it was the start of the United State's prohibition era, demand for illegal alcohol was through the roof, and bootlegging quickly became the family's main source of income. The family was rapidly growing in power and size, further tightening their grip on the New Hartford underworld. Carmine also insisted on building bonds with the city's other two mafia families to assure the families could operate simultaneously in peace with minimal conflict.Changing of the Guard
In 1956, after years of operating the family in prosperity, Carmine Patriano was locked up for second-degree murder charges. As Patriano struggled to run the family from behind bars, his son Mario who was already a powerful captain was given the position of acting boss. When Carmine died in jail three years later, Mario was voted in by the family to replace his father as boss. Mario ran the family similar to his father, running the same rackets and keeping the same captains. Mario's reign is often regarded as the "golden days" of the family. His long run as boss of the family came to an end in 1977 when he died of a heart attack inside his New Hartford Penthouse. The family's recently appointed underboss Paul Ciramalla was deemed fit for the position of boss and was voted in by the family's high ranks.
The Ciramalla-Rossi War / Modern Day
Captains Tommy Pellegrini and Luis Rossi were unsatisfied with Ciramalla's leadership and organized an off-the-record hit on Ciramalla. The two captains ended up seeking help from Mario Patriano's old consigliere Tobia De Caro, who refused to help on the hit and informed Ciramalla. This triggered an all-out war within the family, with Ciramalla ordering all his remaining loyal crews to wipe out Rossi and Pellegrini's men. Rossi and Pellegrini were assisted by the local Irish and Russian gangs who Rossi had built connections with in the past, but Ciramalla held triple the power within the family, making the battle extremely tough for the rebelling captains.
The war lasted several months, consisting of constant back-and-forth attacks from both sides. Ciramalla's first loss was the murder of Tobia De Caro, the consigliere who had ultimately saved Ciramalla from a contract of his own. His side fought back with the killing of Tommy Pellegrini outside a downtown restaurant, and eventually the successful hit on Luis Rossi, finally ending the feud.
Activities
The Patriano Crime Family generates income in a handful of different ways, usually varying depending on the crew or individual. On the legal side, members often run small businesses as money laundering fronts, most of them scattered around Little Italy. Several of New Hartford's unions are run by the family which grants them even more control over the working-class community. Most of the family's income however comes from illegal rackets. After the prohibition era ended, members moved on to other trending rackets such as gambling and prostitution. The family holds considerable extortion power within the city, taxing dozens of businesses around New Hartford.
Unlike many other modern crime families, the Patrianos believe in many old-school mafia morals and are highly strict about their rules and codes. Drug trafficking is completely off-limits to any member or associate, as doing so is prone to attract government attention. During the family's initiation process, members much pledge under Omerta, a code of silence forbidding any initiate to expose the mafia's secrets in any way. Breaking the family's codes or morals in any way could quickly lead to death.Sicilian TiesAmidst the chaos of the Ciramalla-Rossi war, a Sicilian zip crew was flown over to New Hartford to assist the Patriano Crime Family. The Sicilian families had a long history of loyalty to one another, and the Patrianos had developed deep bonds with their equivalents in Sicily through the years. Salvatore Marino, a renowned Sicilian enforcer who had earned his stripes in Palermo's violent streets, commanded the zip team.
Marino and his crew were quickly integrated into the Patriano's war efforts, providing crucial support in several key battles. Their ruthless tactics and expert marksmanship quickly earned them a fearsome reputation. As the war dragged on, the zip crew played a crucial role in finally securing victory for the Patrianos.
Following the war, Salvatore and his men stayed on in New Hartford, operating as a separate crew within the Patriano family. Their primary focus was on the lucrative drug trade, which the Patrianos had always avoided. Salvatore and his crew were able to secure a constant supply of high-quality narcotics which they distributed around the city, thanks to their deep contacts with the Sicilian Mafia.
Despite some initial reluctance from the Patriano leadership, the zip crew quickly proved their worth, bringing in substantial profits for the family. Over time, the Sicilian crew became a key part of the Patriano operation, and their brutal reputation spread far and wide. To this day, the Sicilian zip crew remains one of the Patriano's most trusted and feared assets, a testament to the enduring power of the Sicilian Mafia.

Eddie Arcara was once a promising young member of the local mafia, known for his work ethic and his ability to earn big money. However, his life took a tragic turn when he turned to drugs and addiction took hold.
Sadly, Eddie's addiction ultimately proved to be too much for him to overcome, and he died of a suspected overdose at the peak of his addiction, leaving behind a legacy of both promise and tragedy.
